Are you snoring at night?

If you often feel sluggish throughout the day, or suffer from headaches, dry mouth, snoring, diabetes, acid reflux, muscle pain, depression or high blood pressure, you may be dealing from sleep apnea.

What is sleep apnea?

A common condition that affects an estimated 50 million Americans, obstructive sleep apnea causes the body to quit breathing, sometimes up to 100 times each hour — and, unfortunately, up to 95 percent of individuals with sleep apnea
may be unaware of their condition.

Obstructive sleep apnea is a severe medical health problem that is extremely under diagnosed.

How does sleep apnea work?

  1. Your breathing helps circulate fresh oxygen rich blood.
  2. When you stop breathing, the blood is not filled with the right oxygen molecules.
  3. When your brain sees this, it tells your heart it needs more oxygen and therefor more blood.
  4. This causes your heart to start beating faster to get the blood where it needs to go.
  5. When this doesn’t happen, your brain cries for help... You start to gasp!

When snoring is more then a noisy nuisance

Sometimes, your heart can beat up to 180 beats per minute.  The equivalent of running a marathon.  Imagine running a marathon every night!

You would never think to go to the dentist if you have sleep apnea.  That is the biggest misconception out there with sleep apnea.

Often, dentists are more trained to treat sleep apnea than many doctors.

Plus, treatment is usually a lot simpler than you think.  Most of the time, a simple small appliance is all you need.

What happens if I wait?

Obstructive Sleep Apnea is a sleep disorder in which a person repeatedly stops breathing, which also includes a period of shallow breathing time while asleep. These occurrences can occur up to 300 times a night.

Plus... Obstructive sleep apnea is a severe medical health problem that is extremely under diagnosed Patients who suffer from sleep apnea don’t get into their restful patterns of sleep. This causes a reduction in the production of human growth hormone which can cause weight gain.

Potential consequences of not treating sleep apnea include high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, stroke, possible psychiatric problems, memory loss, and in some cases, death.
